Being a parent and an entrepreneur is tying your hands, you can't work outside the home. you can't work outside the home without spending your salary on childcare and you can't work from home either because your productivity drops to zero. That is why some mothers are tired of choosing between work and their children and have opted for conciliation as a lifestyle through family coworking.
The idea is to make "take your child to work day" the norm. In these coworking parents bring their children to work without any problem and while you work, your child has fun and learns with an educator in a controlled space. You will never have to worry about your child bothering you again, or worse! Because they don't bother. We all know that something bad happens if there is a child at home and you don't hear any noise.
Tranquility in these cases is synonymous with concentration and productivity. For an entrepreneur it translates into useful time, and as is well known, time is money, even more so for a freelancer. That is why the organization of time is essential to be able to enjoy the children without sacrificing work. It is not magic, it is work conciliation.
In many cases the tranquility that a family coworking can bring is also sought in more isolated and remote environments. In this way, the trend of rural coworking also favors this conciliation, without losing the focus on work.
However, the reality is different. Unfortunately, there are many companies that look askance at maternity. If you are a woman and you are pregnant, it could be said that, from a business point of view, your labor projection is not going to be very good. Faced with this injustice, working parents have exploded with a great deal of creativity.
One of the pioneers in making work-life balance her way of life was Tal Sarig Avraham, a Google employee in Tel Aviv who saw motherhood as an advantage rather than a hindrance. She took advantage of her status to create Campus for Moms. It was the beginning of a family-friendly coworking series that makes no distinction between the work and family environment. Each coworker decides what to dedicate each moment to, being able to intersperse both.
In Spain the initiative of a family coworking is very recent. Now we have to work to include men in this fight, since the numbers do not lie and tell us that the main coworkers of the co-families are women.
The three centers are based on the triangle father/mother - child - educator. A trinomial that within the same space allows you to enjoy your children while respecting their learning rhythms without sacrificing your professional career. They offer the advantages of coworking without having to park your children in a nursery all day. It's great to be able to share meals and breaks with your children. And if any problem arises, you are just a few steps away from them.
Family coworking is very recent, but its success has been resounding. It's so new that the three Spanish coworking companies complain about the lack of subsidies for these initiatives. But fortunately they are not lacking in customers. Because no one wants to miss out on their child's childhood within the walls of an office.
